5 Things I Learned from the Jacksonville Jaguar’s First Preseason Game
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars have played their first preseason game and the result was as 27-to-3 loss to the Miami Dolphins. The play and results were not unexpected, but were disappointing. Jacksonville fans have had a lot of positive news in the offseason such as a new General Manager, new head coach and new uniforms and helmet. With all the positive build up Jacksonville fans came back to reality Friday night.
I know it is just the first preseason game for Jacksonville. It is too early to tell how well Jacksonville will play during the season. In addition to this being the first preseason game for Jacksonville, a number of starters did not play for Jacksonville Friday night. Typical of early in the season, the defense is ahead of the offense. Blaine Gabbert is a young QB entering his third season and learning his third system. Gabbert along with the rest of the offense will take longer to develop than the defense. This was only the first of four preseason games fans should try to be patient. The preseason is more about evaluating players and not about wining the game.
You do not need to be a coach or general manager to know the Jacksonville offense struggled in the first preseason game Friday night. With expectations being so low for Jacksonville, no one was surprised by the quality of play on Friday night. It was not all doom and gloom for Jacksonville. There were several positives along with the negatives. There were a number of things I took away from the game. Here are five of them.

1. Maurice Jones-Drew
Jacksonville really need Maurice Jones-Drew. As good as Robinson looked, Jacksonville still needs Maurice Jones-Drew to get yards between the tackles.
