The Tennessee Titans have been playing great football in 2013. Considering the team’s lone loss came to the Houston Texans in overtime, there is not much to improve on. With that being said, one thing the Titans have to do against the New York Jets as well as every game after that is get wide receiver Kenny Britt more involved in the offense.
Britt has hauled in just five receptions for 43 yards this season. Granted, he has been targeted 16 times and has had his fair share of dropped passes. However, Tennessee cannot give up on him. In fact, it is very important that they continue to give him opportunities.
Many have wondered if Britt’s concerns about his future with the team, and the fact that he posted those concerns on Twitter, have something to do with his dismal play.
Britt tweeted the following last week: “Looks like the Titans pullin that Jared Cook card .. Looking like this the last year ill be sayin #TitanUp .. So lets make it a Great year.”
However, the 25-year-old has insisted that he is completely focused on 2013. He has simply hit a rough patch, which is certainly not unusual for wide receivers.
“I don’t even think about that when I’m on the field, when I’m at practice or in this locker room with the other guys like that,” Britt said, according to TitansOnline.com. “None of the outside stuff bothers me. You know what? It’s more just staying in the moment and looking the ball in instead of … try to catch and turn around and run before you catch the ball.”
At this point, Britt and the Titans have to forget about what happened last week. Instead, quarterback Jake Locker needs to throw him more passes so that he can work his way out of his current slump.
