As the most surprising team in the league, the Kansas City Chiefs are quickly gaining respect from fans and teams from around the league. The Chiefs were once the team you wanted to play because it was an easy win, but after starting the season 4-0, they are no long that team. Alex Smith has been a big reason for all of the success this team has experienced, being brought in to finally give the Chiefs a viable option at quarterback. He has passed for 957 yards and seven touchdowns so far this season, hitting running back Jamaal Charles the most out of all receivers. Charles has 23 catches for 213 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 289 yards and two touchdowns.
The Tennessee Titans are also a surprise team this season with a 3-1 record. However, the loss of starting quarterback Jake Locker to injury in week four was devastating for this team to see as he was continually improving. Ryan Fitzpatrick will come in to replace him in his absence, which could be up to six weeks, and that’s good news for Titans fans because the former Buffalo Bills quarterback has experience as a starter. Nate Washington will likely help Fitzpatrick out with his solid play this season, catching 19 passes for 332 yards and two scores. Chris Johnson has struggled on the ground this season, rushing for 277 yards and 84 carries with no touchdowns to show for it.
Defensively, the Chiefs have one of the best units in the league. They rank first in points allowed with just over 10 and seventh in the NFL in yards allowed per game. The only liability on defense is the front seven. The run-stopping ability has just not been there so far as the Cheifs rank 24th in the league in rush yards allowed per game. The Titans have the ninth-best overall defense and have been surprisingly above-average this season.
PREDICTION: Chiefs 31, Titans 21
