The Josh Freeman saga with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has come to an end, and now begins the swirling rumors of where Freeman can end up. Many of teams have been linked as possible destinations as to where Freeman can end up such as the Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Vikings.
One team that has not been mentioned, but should look into possibly signing the young quarterback, is the Houston Texans. This has been a bad week for Matt Schaub; not only did he throw an interception that turned into a Richard Sherman touchdown, but after the game, fans were seen lighting Schaub jerseys on fire. He’s has shown he is a good quarterback in the NFL, but where his resume is lacking is getting the Texans over the hump and leading them to a Super Bowl.

Now, I’m not saying that Freeman will be that guy, but he deserves a chance to be brought in and show what he can do. Just three years ago he put up 25 touchdowns and six interceptions, and it has gone pretty much downhill from there. However, a change of scenery can do him some good and restore him back to the player he was. Surrounding Freeman around talented veterans such as Arian Foster, Andre Johnson and J.J. Watt would all help in mentoring Freeman and grooming him to be a team leader. The Texans came into this season with high expectations, and after losing their last two games, including a meltdown to the Seattle Seahawks, it could very well be time for Schaub to start looking over his shoulder. Fans seemed to have given up on him and he could start to lose the locker room should the Texans continue to struggle.
Bringing in Freeman can be a low risk, high reward deal for the Texans. They should take a chance on this guy. Otherwise, it means sticking with Schaub and dealing with the frustration of getting to the playoffs and failing to go any further once more.
