Chicago Bears: 2014 First Quarter Report Card

The Bears are 2-2 heading into Week 5 of the NFL season. There have been so positives to take away from the season, but there have also been some inconsistencies. Let's take a look at how the team has performed thus far.

The offense ranked second in 2013. So far in 2014, they are merely average. This could be due to injuries on the offensive line and wide-receiving core. Nonetheless, they have not performed as many thought they would.

The defense does not look improved. Lots of money was spent to rebuild the defensive line. The investment has not paid off through four weeks. However, they have shown the ability to create turnovers.

Without a clear-cut return man, it is hard to give the special teams a good grade. Robbie Gould has been his usual self and is a perfect five-for-five on field goals. Punter Pat O'Donnell has been solid in his first year.

Not much good to say here -- Mel Tucker is finding his way out of a job. Marc Trestman has had some questionable play-clock management and play-calling. Joe DeCamillis is trying a new man at kick returner every week. The whole staff seems confused at times.

Kyle Fuller looks like he is on his way to a great career. The two DTs selected early have given the Bears a potent rotation up the middle. Some of the other picks have yet to be given much of a chance, but the early picks have proven their worth.
