Willie Young Will Be X-Factor For Chicago Bears In Week 5

Willie Young comes into Week 5 as the Chicago Bears‘ leading pass-rusher, while the Carolina Panthers have given up the sixth-most sacks in the entire NFL. Young could have a huge game.

This past offseason, Cam Newton underwent ankle surgery. He acknowledged that it may have hindered his play. His mobility has not been a strength so far in 2014; it has actually become a weakness. His offensive line has allowed 10 sacks and countless hurries through four weeks.

Young was brought in, through free agency, to bolster the pass rush. Along with Lamarr Houston and Jared Allen, Young was meant to be a big part of a rebuilt defensive line. Look for Young to take advantage and have his best game as a Bear.

He will be matched up with either Blake Bell or Nate Chandler. Neither of them have not performed well enough to protect Newton. Since Jordan Gross retired, Carolina has been trying to find a replacement. Bell and Chandler are having a tough time attempting to replace the multiple time Pro-Bowler.

Young has shown the ability to get pressure on the quarterback on a consistent basis, and I see a multiple sack game for him in Week 5. Ask me last year how his chances would be and I would say it would be a tough matchup. Not so much in 2014. Newton’s loss of mobility and inconsistent play from his blockers bodes well for Young. He is the x-factor for the Bears in Week 5.
