Quarterback Drama Brewing for Tampa Bay Buccaneers After Win
For the past three weeks of the NFL season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been a dud offensively. They lacked any sort of ability to gain or control momentum in a game. Thus they found themselves in an 0-3 situation entering Game 4 at the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Buccaneers found themselves in a great situation because the Steelers aren’t what they once were. With Mike Glennon now at the helm offensively, the Bucs managed to get away with the win despite his early struggles. Some people out in the world are attempting to advise Lovie Smith as he now finds himself with the decision to start the young gun or the old man.
So let’s take a look at both guys. On one hand, we have Josh McCown, a 35-year-old journeyman trying to find a permanent home. McCown is a 6-foot-4 QB who has the ability to move around the pocket. He has age, experience, suitable frame and SSN advantages on the young Glennon. On the other side, we have Mike Glennon, a second-year player who was an all-rookie selection. Glennon has a 6-foot frame in a 6-foot-6 body. Now don’t get me wrong here, Glennon is a good QB. He just lacks experience, size and adversity adjustment. For Glennon to be a competitive QB, he will have to dig up things that only come with time and experience. A QB needs to be quick with his decisions and needs to deal with adversity by overcoming it mentally and physically.
This is a task that Glennon can complete over time just as experiences and maturity will also come with time. All the rumors swirling around the Bucs has put fans in a state of awe as the organization tries to find a winning direction.
So who should be the starter for Tampa Bay? I think the man for the job is Glennon despite his faults. He has a better upside then McCown.
