The New York Jets were completely demolished by the San Diego Chargers in a shutout loss, 31-0. That's right -- the Jets are now 1-4 and are on the outside looking in. Here's a look at five takeaways from this embarrassing loss.

Running back Chris Johnson ran for just 44 yards on nine carries and continues to not live up to the hype that everyone originally thought he would be. He's missing the speed and finesse he once had and has been a letdown so far this season. With the Jets ground game not picking up like they had envisioned, it looks like the Jets will continue to rely more on Chris Ivory to get the job done.

Head coach Rex Ryan is absolutely on the hot seat as his team is falling apart early on this season. From their offensive issues, cornerback issues and the fact that everything is headed into a downward spiral, all eyes are on Ryan. He did a terrible job in execution against the Chargers and his once intimidating defense looked completely sloppy and undisciplined thanks to all the penalties and missed tackles.

So far this season, every single time the Jets played a team featuring an elite quarterback, they got completely dissected to the point of no return. Aaron Rodgers, Matt Stafford, Jay Cutler and, of course, Phillip Rivers all had a field day against the Jets' defensive secondary. It's no secret that a major weakness on the Jets is their cornerbacks, which will continue to suffer week in, week out. Rivers threw for 288 yards with ease.

2. Jets Can't Stop The Big Plays

The Jets were unable to stop all the big plays thrown their way from the Chargers aerial attack. To make matters worse, they couldn't even stop the run. The Chargers were able to make big plays through the air and especially on the ground, rushing for 162 yards overall. Combined, the Chargers completely embarrassed the Jets in yardage gained, totaling 439 yards in the matchup.

Quarterback Michael Vick proved why he's a backup. He looked terrible against the Chargers as he was overthrowing passes and made dumb decisions on the field. It also didn't help that he was taking some pretty heavy hits by the Chargers' defense and looked fatigued most of the time. Overall, this was a debacle of a game; the likes of which hasn't been seen in years. Vick won't save the season and the Jets are in some major trouble.
