The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost once again, but this time it was against the New Orleans Saints. The main reason for the loss was not because of Mike Glennon and his one interception or the defense’s inability to tackle. The loss resulted from Tampa Bay’s inability to establish the run game. They put the ball on the ground only 20 times for a mere 66 yards. That is not gonna get it done; that will not bring your team to victory. Look at Demarco Murray in Dallas — he is averaging more than five yards a carry and they are 4-1. The run game is crucial to a team’s success. I am not saying you have to put the ball on the ground every play, but you have to run the ball efficiently to win football games.
So, what’s next in Tampa Bay? Well, next week they have a matchup with the stingy Baltimore Ravens defense. This matchup won’t get any easier if they can’t run the ball. The Bucs need to get what they can off the run, and they need to have no wasted attempts. This is a taller order for inconsistent Doug Martin, but it has to happen if they want to get out of Baltimore without a lopsided loss. Personally, I don’t see that happening, but I could be wrong. In order for a team like the Buccaneers to be successful, they need to do all the little things perfectly to get a win.
It isn’t time to start panicking, Bucs fans, but you should realize that the Bucs are on a path to another losing season. In the end, it will come down to how patient the Buccaneers are and whether they start to panic or not.
One question I want to leave you with is, do you think the Buccaneers will panic?”
