Since the dawn of the NFL, the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles have hated each other. It is the longest, most passionate rivalry in NFL history. These are the most significant moments in its history.

5. Chuck Bednarik “Kills” Frank Gifford (Nov. 20, 1960)

Eagles linebacker Chuck Bednarik knocking out Giants running back Frank Gifford is one of the most iconic hits in NFL history. The hit put Gifford out of football for 18 months. It was so severe that numerous Giants players truly believed Bednarik had killed Gifford. The Eagles went on to win their third NFL Championship. Today, both players are in the Hall of Fame.

4. Giant Dysfunction (Nov. 19, 1978)

In the midst of a playoff drought all the Giants had to do was run out the clock. The Giants were finally going to beat the hated Eagles in a late year division matchup. Giants quarterback Joe Pisarcik fumbled the ball off of running back Larry Csonka's hip. Eagles cornerback Herman Edwards picked up the fumble for the most unbelievable touchdown in NFL history. The Giants had managed to create a new way to lose a game.

3. Dixon and Sehorn Steal the Show (Jan. 7, 2001)

With the crowd in an absolute frenzy, rookie Ron Dixon brought back the opening kickoff for a score and the Giants did not look back in this playoff matchup. The Giants held scrambling Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb to just 17 rushing yards. Giants cornerback Jason Sehorn had an interception for a score that remains one of the best in team history. The momentum of this victory helped the Giants on their way to the Super Bowl.

2. McNabb’s Giant Nightmare (Sept. 30, 2007)

The Giants pulverized McNabb on this night, sacking him 12 times in the game. Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora led the way with six sacks, as the Giants tied an NFL record for sacks in a game. The second time these teams played this season, the Eagles were a missed field goal away from tying the game as time expired. Had the Eagles won one of these two games, the Giants would not have won the Super Bowl, let alone made the playoffs.

1. An Unfathomable Victory (Dec. 19, 2010)

Down 31-10 with 8:17 remaining in the game, the Eagles had three explosive unanswered scores and a critical onside kick recovery to tie the game 31-31. With little time remaining, the Giants lined up to punt and hopefully force overtime. Despite being instructed to punt the ball out of bounds, rookie Matt Dodge punted a line-drive. DeSean Jackson sped off into the end zone in the NFL’s one and only walk-off punt return.
