New York Giants’ Roller Coaster Ride Continues vs. Philadelphia Eagles

In Week 1 and Week 2, the New York Giants looked like a form of their 2013 selves. Then Week 3 came around, and the team began to turn things around — they even improved to 3-2 before Week 6 began. But when the Giants traveled down to Pennsylvania to take on the Philadelphia Eagles, old habits came roaring back.

Eli Manning and his offense never got off the ground. The Giants ran a vanilla offense against the Eagles and it never opened up the field like it did during their three-game winning streak. Along with their struggles moving the football, the offensive line did not do its part against the Eagles’ defense.

Manning was under heavy pressure all game long and the veteran quarterback had little to no time in his attempt to pick up yards and let plays develop down field. It’s not like the Giants were going against one of the best defenses in the league either — they just couldn’t get into any kind of groove.

The team is missing its starting running back, Rashad Jennings, for an extended period of time and that will hurt their offense, but rookie Andre Williams has been solid when running the ball this season, so that wasn’t the problem either.

Going into the 2014 season, one of the biggest questions for the Giants was their offensive line, and even though it’s been solid so far, it had a game to forget against the Eagles. I’m sure fans are wondering what version of this Giants team will show up week to week. Consistency is key in the NFL and the Giants need at least one aspect of their team to remain reliable, just in case they do have a game like it did against the Eagles. The passing game, running game and offensive line all can’t show up on the same game, which isn’t giving the team a chance to win.

Week 6 against the Eagles is just like Week 1 and 2 for the Giants, as it’s another game to sweep under the rug and never revisit against. The Giants can’t continue their up-and-down play throughout the season.

They must find a common ground soon or they can kiss the playoffs goodbye.
