Week 7 Matchup: New Orleans Saints (2-3) vs. Detroit Lions (4-2)
TV Schedule: Sunday, Oct. 19, 1:00 p.m. ET, FOX
Stadium: Ford Field
Line: Detroit (-3)
Coming off of an 11-5 season, the New Orleans Saints had high expectations. However, the team has gotten off to a slow 2-3 start. That 2-3 record could easily turn into 2-4, as the Saints will take on the Detroit Lions next.
New Orleans still has Drew Brees, and a pretty productive offense, but it struggles on the road. The Saints have yet to win a game away from home. Unless if the team gets better on the road, it is going to have an early exit in the playoffs, assuming it makes the playoffs.
Although the Saints rack up the yards, whether it be on the ground or through the air, the Lions allow the fewest passing yards per game, and the second fewest rushing yards per game.
They also have Matthew Stafford as their QB, who can be elite at times, but not all the time.
Although New Orleans is coming off of a bye, it barely got by Tampa Bay in Week 5. Detroit is coming off of a 17-3 victory over Minnesota.
This game has the potential to be a shootout. Although that may in fact be the case, New Orleans is an unreliable pick on the road, and Detroit is no slouch (tied for first in the NFC North). As a result, I am predicting the Saints to drop to 2-4 on the season.
PREDICTION: Saints 28, Lions 35
