10 NFL Trades That Make Way Too Much Sense

The NFL trade deadline is roughly two weeks away and the rumors have started swirling. Injures and underperforming players have forced teams to start looking outside their roster to find replacements. Here are the 10 most obvious trades that make way too much sense not to happen.

Now we’re starting with a trade that is pretty unlikely to ever happen, but it does make a bundle of sense. With Brian Hoyer leading the Browns to greatness, Manziel becoming best friends with the bench and an awkward offseason approaching, the Browns would be better off trading Manziel now and signing Hoyer long term.

Braden Oliver has been nothing short (haha get it?) of amazing for the Chargers, but he’s really all they have at running back. It’s time for the Bills to move on from Spiller and since he'll be a free agent at the end of this year, might as well deal him and get something in return. Spiller paired with Philip Rivers would be a scary combination.
8. Courtney Upshaw to the Falcons

The Falcons need a pass rush. They made the transition into a 3-4 defense this year and it has not garnered the best results. But there might be hope in the three-year pro trapped in Baltimore. Upshaw hasn't done much, but he was a highly-touted pass rusher and a change of scenery might help his numbers.
7. Jabaal Sheard to the Raiders

Well what do you know, the Raiders also need a pass rush! Fancy that. This trade makes tons of sense since Sheard is a) buried on the Browns' depth chart and b) hasn't done as well since moving to OLB in a 3-4. With the Raiders, Sheard could return to DE where he had 8.5 and 7 sacks in his first two seasons.
6. Ben Tate to the Broncos

Another player getting shipped out of Cleveland, because isn't that every player's dream? To leave Cleveland? Certainly was LeBron’s (for four years). The Broncos need a running back after Montee Ball first sucked and then got injured. Due to the breakouts of Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West, the Browns could move Tate.
5. LeGarrette Blount to the Patriots

You can bet Blount is regretting leaving the Patriots now. So far with the Steelers, the running back has only received 37 carries since, you know, that Le’veon Bell guy is really good. The Stevan Ridley injury leaves the Patriots in need of a back and Blount has already proven to be both a fan favorite and extremely capable running in New England's offense.
4. Jake Long to the Lions

When your offense is purely built around deep shots to Calvin Johnson, it’s important to keep your quarterback upright. The Lions need to protect Matt Stafford while the Rams need to see what Greg Robinson can do at LT. After all, it’s not like the Rams have anything important to play for, so might as well see what the young guy can do.
3. Morris Claiborne to the Dolphins, Cameron Wake to the Cowboys

Double move! Crazy isn't it (even though Dallas would have to toss in some extra value). Cameron Wake is an elite pass rusher but those are easier to find than elite corners. Now Claiborne isn't elite but he has the skill set to be and maybe getting out of Dallas will help. Cowboys need pass rush, Dolphins need corners. You’re welcome.
2. Mike Williams to the Giants

This trade would be No. 1 if the Giants didn't spoil all my fun saying they didn't want to trade for Mike Williams. But, this trade really makes all the sense in the world. Williams is rumored to want out of Buffalo and with Victor Cruz’ injury, the Giants need receivers.
1. Any Quarterback to the Rams

TADA! This is the most obvious trade in the NFL. Whether it be a stopgap guy like Derek Anderson, or trading for the future like Aaron Murray or Kellen Moore (remember that guy?), the Rams are in dire need of a signal caller. Austin Davis has been nice, but Jeff Fisher should find a new quarterback ASAP if he wants to keep his job.
