The Chicago Bears failed in their attempt to right the ship in Week 7, and these are the five biggest takeaways from their loss to the Miami Dolphins.

There was hope in Chicago after a great win last week against Atlanta. The only thing is, Atlanta sucks. The Baltimore Ravens destroyed them today, and it puts the Bears' win against the Falcons in perspective. It was clearly not as impressive as it appeared.

Last week Ryan Tannehill struggled in the first half against the Green Bay Packers, but he awoke in the second half to pull off a near upset of one of the hottest teams in the league. The Dolphins had no problem turning away the Bears today, showing they are a team on the rise, while the Bears are sliding in the other direction.

Admittedly, Tannehill is an athletic and fast quarterback, but he’s not the same caliber as Russell Wilson. But against the Bears, he appeared to be all that and more, going 25-of-32 passing for 277 yards and two TDs. Add that to his six rushes for 48 yards and you have an unstoppable force. Ouch.

Keeping with the theme this year, the defense gets a pass. They were horrible last year and were just expected to be serviceable this year. The offensive performance is mystifying and inexcusable. Is it play-calling or lack of execution? It’s really impossible to tell.

Most fans thought the Bears could ride the offense to the playoffs in spite of a poor defense. That’s not the case. An 8-8 finish looks like a godsend at this point, and you have to wonder how long it will be before we see players giving up on the field.
