The Seattle Seahawks lost to the St. Louis Rams by a score of 28-26. Russell Wilson and Doug Baldwin were fantastic for Seattle, but they didn’t look very great in a lot of other areas of the game. These are five takeaways from Seattle’s Week 7 loss (NFL officiating aside).

The good news for Seattle is that Beast Mode will be getting his touches. The bad news for Seattle is that it seems like every time he gashes a defense, the Seahawks are called back for offensive holding. Some of that is legit, while others have just been terrible calls. Lynch should have had a touchdown in this game, and we’ll just leave it at that. Expect more from Lynch going forward.

Remember during preseason when the only question on special teams was who was going to return punts? Well, the issues just got a lot worse in Week 7. Special teams really cost Seattle in this game. I wouldn’t freak out because they were tricked by two great plays that included a 90-yard punt return by the Rams’ Stedman Bailey, but they definitely aren’t as solid as once thought.

Is it just me or is protection getting worse by the week? Losing starting center Max Unger along with tight ends Zach Miller and Luke Willson will do that I guess. The first half, in particular, was absolutely terrible for the offensive line.

Wagner has been better than most people realize since he came into the league, but you can really tell how great of a middle linebacker he is when he isn’t even on the field! Wagner got hurt last week against the Dallas Cowboys, and that’s when the Seahawks began to get gashed on the ground. This week he was out, and the Rams gashed them with the run again. It’s not a coincidence.

He can and he did. Wilson and the Seahawks fell short against the Rams, but they would not have had a chance to win the game had it not been for the heroics of the great DangeRuss. It would have been fun to watch Wilson try to lead the team to victory with no timeouts left. He is such a remarkable player and should have had that chance, but the opportunity was stolen. Still, you have to appreciate Wilson’s efforts against St. Louis.
