Percy Harvin Needs To Grow Up With New York Jets

Wide receiver Percy Harvin has a golden opportunity to really prove his critics wrong.

The former Seattle Seahawks player recently got traded to the New York Jets due to him supposedly being a locker room cancer. Whether he got into altercations with teammates or had a selfish attitude regarding the role he had with the Seahawks, it’s all in the past now.

With the change of scenery, Harvin can now focus on contributing as much as he can to a Jets team in dire need of an offensive boost. With only Eric Decker as a legitimate receiving threat, Harvin is now presented with the task of making an immediate impact.

It’s no secret that New York is the biggest sports media market in the world. While Harvin enjoyed much celebrity and fame in Seattle due to his role in the Seahawks winning the first-ever Super Bowl in franchise history, he should be able to grow up on a team surrounded by humble athletes.

Harvin has a history of not caring about anything unless he is the main star on offense, and that kind of attitude won’t fly on the Jets. This is a team built on talent that is only getting better over time, with athletes who have character, integrity and the undying will to succeeded as much they can. Don’t let the record fool you — the Jets have an all-star cast of athletes that will do anything and everything for the benefit of the team.

Besides being a complementary receiver for Decker, Harvin should also help fix their issues on kickoff and punt returning duties. While it’s doubtful that he will see any time at running back like he saw during his time with the Minnesota Vikings, this entire experience should help him mature as an athlete and above all else, as a human being.

It’s all about getting the Jets past these unfortunate obstacles in what is already dubbed a lost season.
