The Buffalo Bills travel to the Meadowlands this week to take on their division rivals the New York Jets. The Jets are trying to salvage what is left of their season, while the Bills are trying to make it back-to-back victories without top running backs Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller. Sunday will also mark Percy Harvin’s New York Jets debut. Here are five predictions for this AFC East showdown.

Neither the Jets nor the Bills have done a very good job of protecting their quarterbacks, ranking 25th and 27th in sacks allowed, respectively. In addition, both of these defensive lines are among the stronger units around. With neither Kyle Orton nor Geno Smith at the top of their games, they will need all the protection they can get.

4. Sammy Watkins Will Have Another Big Game

Buffalo’s star rookie had his best game as a pro last week in Buffalo’s last-second win over Minnesota, and he should have another productive outing against New York. While the Jets’ run defense is strong as always, their secondary is middling at best. If Kyle Orton can be given enough time to throw, expect him to look Watkins’ way early and often.

3. Percy Harvin Won't Have Much Of An Impact

The Jets were in the headlines once again this week when they traded for the talented but inconsistent Harvin. New York’s offense hasn’t been able to find any sort of rhythm this year, so it will be interesting to see how they deploy the versatile Harvin. Unfortunately, Harvin likely won’t have the proper amount of time to get acclimated to the Jets’ scheme to have any significant impact on Sunday.

2. Kyle Orton and Geno Smith Will Commit Multiple Turnovers

Both Orton and Smith have had their struggles taking care of the football this year, as each QB has had their share of costly turnovers. For Orton, those mistakes haven’t hurt his team too badly, as Buffalo is 2-1 with him as the starter. Smith’s struggles, on the other hand, have been consistent with New York’s issues as a team. Facing a pair of opportunistic defenses, expect even more turnovers on Sunday.

This game looks a lot different personnel-wise than it did before the season. The Bills have a new starting QB and are without both of their top running backs, while the Jets have added one of the more dynamic players in the game. All told, the outcome of this game is really anybody’s guess. With Kyle Orton playing slightly better than Geno Smith, we’ll give the advantage to the Bills.
