A few big-name players appeared on the injury reports for the Indianapolis Colts and Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of their Week 8 matchup.
Wide receiver Reggie Wayne did not practice Wednesday or Thursday after injuring his elbow vs. Cincinnati, and it is unclear if he will be available on Sunday. Wayne also underwent an MRI on Monday, which didn’t show any significant damage.
Right tackle Gosder Cherilus (rest), tight end Jack Doyle (knee) and running back Trent Richardson (hamstring) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice. Wayne and Richardson were both deemed “day-to-day” by Chuck Pagano.
For the Steelers, linebacker Ryan Shazier, who has missed the last four weeks with a sprained knee, appears ready to return. Shazier has been missed in the Steelers defense and they are hopeful he will be back. Right tackle Marcus Gilbert did not practice and must pass the NFL‘s concussion protocol. Nose tackle Steve McLendon, who injured his shoulder vs. Houston, was also unable to practice on Wednesday.
Cornerback Darius Butler was the only limited participant for the Colts, but it is an encouraging sign after he missed the past two weeks with an ankle injury. Arthur Jones was a full-go and is expected to play on Sunday.
Ike Taylor (forearm) was a limited participant and has already been ruled out for Sunday with no timetable for his return. Shamarko Thomas, who has missed the past two games with hamstring injury, was also limited. safety Troy Polamalu, defensive end Brett Keisel and safety Mike Mitchell were all given a veteran’s day off.
