NFL Green Bay Packers

Randall Cobb Will Be X-Factor for Green Bay Packers in Week 8

Cobb Packers

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers are coming off of a dominating performance over Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers that saw them score four touchdowns before the Panthers even got on the board. It was the type of performance over a somewhat decent team that has diehard and casual fans thinking that the now 5-2 Packers are a legitimate threat for the Super Bowl.

The Packers travel to New Orleans to face Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints next.

New Orleans’ biggest weakness so far this season has been their inability to defend the pass, which is something that quarterback Aaron Rodgers and company excel at doing. However, Rodgers’ favorite target this season, Jordy Nelson, will be the target of most of the Saints’ defensive coverages.

If Rodgers and Nelson are to have a big game and the Packers are going to crush the Saints, Green Bay receiver Randall Cobb must get on the board early.

Cobb leads the Packers in touchdowns this season and has been a major factor in Green Bay’s early-season success. It’s no coincidence that the only touchdown Cobb has scored in the Packers’ two losses this season was in garbage time against the Seattle Seahawks; his success goes hand in hand with the rest of the team’s.

New Orleans may be struggling defensively, but their offense is still capable of putting on a show. Cobb will have to have a huge game Sunday night for the Packers to win, especially if the game turns into a shootout between Brees and Rodgers.
