The New York Jets will host the Buffalo Bills Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Both teams have some key players dealing with injuries, but some of them have a fighting chance to play in Sunday’s game while others clearly will miss some action.
While the Bills’ official Week 8 injury report won’t be released until Friday afternoon, it seems like the team will be without several players.
We already know that running back Fred Jackson (groin) will not be in action come Sunday, but he could be joined by some of his teammates on the sideline. Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (hamstring) and linebacker Ty Powell (ankle) also missed practice this week and could miss Sunday’s game as well.
The only way I could see Powell and Goodwin playing Sunday is if they are able to make it onto the practice field Friday, but I’m currently under the impression that won’t happen and the Bills will be ready to play without them come Sunday.
Two other players to keep an eye on are wide receiver Marcus Easley (knee) and safety Aaron Williams (neck), both of whom have been limited during practice this week.
As for the 1-6 Jets, they are looking at missing backup wide receiver Greg Salas (ankle and wrist) and rookie linebacker Trevor Reilly (knee) as they try to avoid their seventh loss in a row.
Coach Rex Ryan feels that the rest of the players to have been limited in practice will be healthy enough to play in some capacity Sunday. Left guard Oday Aboushi (shoulder), corner back Phillip Adams (groin), right guard Willie Colon (knee), wide receiver Eric Decker (hamstring) and linebacker David Harris (shoulder) were all limited participants.
Last Thursday running back Bilal Powell hurt his foot against the New England Patriots in the third quarter and did not return to the game. Powell did indeed practice this week and should be good to go for Sunday.
