If QB Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears had drama in the locker room after their loss last week, then it is tough to imagine what things were like this time around. That is sure going to be a long flight home for them.
Tom Brady put together a quarterback master class against Cutler and company, and it resulted in Rob Gronkowski having one of his best games ever. Brady’s five touchdowns equaled his incompletions, and those throws were not in any danger of getting picked off. He even had his coach talking after the game, which we all know is quite a rarity.
“I love coaching Tom. I’ve been fortunate to have him the whole career since he’s been here,” New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick said to ESPN. “He does a great job of executing the team game plan.”
It also helps when your giant of a tight end is feeling completely fit. Gronkowski looked beastly against the Bears, and he could be a real problem in the playoffs against all AFC opponents — however, he does have to stay healthy for that long.
Cutler had a decent day statistically with 227 passing yards and three TDs, but he has a way of making mistakes when it hurts his team the most. Defensive end Rob Ninkovich recovered a clumsy fumble from the QB that got run back for a 15-yard TD with 55 seconds left in the first half. At 38-7, the game was completely out of reach by that point.
It looks like this season is over for the Bears, but hopefully Cutler was taking notes while Brady dissected their defense.
