Tony Romo went through a walk-through at the hotel today for the Dallas Cowboys, which should cheer up Jerry Jones and company.
“Following the normal schedule but also listening to his body,” head coach Jason Garrett said in London on Wednesday. “We had a good, productive walk-through at the hotel today and we anticipate him adopting that schedule that we’ve had for most of the year.”
Romo has not practiced on Wednesdays all season due to maintenance on the back he fractured recently against the Washington Redskins. He has a huge opportunity to build some rhythm this Sunday against the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Cowboys have not decided yet who is going to start at quarterback this week, but it would be a major mistake to leave their starter out for too long. Brandon Weeden is not the long-term solution for them, and he showed that with a poor performance against the Arizona Cardinals last weekend. That game may have been a preview of the NFC championship game depending on how things play out.
Even though beating Jacksonville is not crucial to the Cowboys’ playoff hopes, it will be essential for Romo to be soaring high on confidence once the postseason starts to near. Also, if they were planning on benching the QB this weekend, then they shouldn’t have brought him over to London. We all know a cross-country flight is not the best way to heal a fractured back, but some playing time could be enough to heal a wounded ego.
