The Cleveland Browns showed they are absolutely a team to be reckoned with in the highly competitive AFC North. Their beatdown of the Cincinnati Bengals Thursday night shows just how far quarterback Andy Dalton and Co. are from being a legitimate contender this season.

Even though the 24-3 score was devastating, there is at least one Bengals player who believes the Browns are still stuck in their terrible ways.

When Cincinnati running back Jeremy Hill was asked if Cleveland was better than he thought he responded, “Oh no, not at all. They’re probably worse than I thought, to be honest with you.”

Worse than he thought? Yeah, because 12 carries for 55 yards proves that he definitely got the better of the Browns on Thursday Night Football.

“They didn’t do anything special to me,” Hill continued. “I mean, respect to them, they won the game. But that’s all I’ll give them.”

“Those guys, they’re not that good. It was on us [Thursday]. We gave them the game, in my opinion. They didn’t do anything special. We just gave them the game. They just sat back with coverage the whole day.”

As someone who watched the entire game, I can honestly say the Bengals did not just give the Browns the contest. It was as if Cleveland was well aware first place in the division was on the line and Cincinnati acted as if they were playing a warmup scrimmage for the real game.

Dalton’s performance was nothing short of a train wreck and that was all because of the Browns’ constant pass rush and swarming pass defense. In fact, Dalton had one of the worst games a quarterback has had in NFL history. His 2.0 passer rating and 30.3 completion percentage is about as embarrassing as it gets. Once again, it had nothing to do with Dalton and his receivers being bad. It is a testament to how good Cleveland’s defense played.

Hill can say all he wants about how the Browns really are not that good. Whatever makes him sleep better at night. The reality is Cleveland is on their way to being the real deal. Do not be surprised if they win their first AFC North title in franchise history while making the playoffs for the first time since 2002.
