Dallas Cowboys Made Foolish Decision to Fly Tony Romo Overseas

Since franchise QB Tony Romo is already in London, it makes no sense for him to be benched and would be foolish of the Dallas Cowboys to decide that. They’ve already risked his fractured back with a cross-country flight, which wasn’t the wisest decision, and they should have just let him take the week off completely.

Why not? Jerry Jones and company are in the rare position of still having a fairly secure record (6-3), and the risk of losing should have been outweighed by Romo’s health. A broken back is a serious injury for any player, much less a quarterback who has to twist his entire spinal column with every throw. More damage could have been inflicted during the trip there. Romo might even end up getting hurt in the return flight after a healthy performance and win. There was just no earthly reason to risk their whole season for one game, and fans of the QB should tread lightly, like Hank Schrader, this weekend.

Something just makes me nervous about the way they have handled Romo and DeMarco Murray all season. It seems like another big injury is about to happen for one of them. They have both played undeniably brilliant football, but the carries for Murray, in particular, need to be brought under control.

The Cowboys can get this win without Romo, because the Jacksonville Jaguars have had a lousy season full of dismal performances. Also, the crowd will surely be in favor of Dallas. Now that he is already over there though, they should just cross their fingers and play him to start building team confidence.
