San Antonio Still Has Shot To Land Raiders; Officials Meeting Friday
Remember those Oakland Raiders moving to San Antonio rumors from a few months ago? They’re back. And not just via a report or speculation on the internet. Leaders from San Antonio, led by former Mayor Henry Cisneros, will actually meet with Raiders officials on Friday in Oakland.
At this point the Raiders ending up in Texas still seems like a long shot, but according to report from San Antonio Express News, Cisneros believes the city has a 50/50 shot at landing the struggling NFL team.
If you’re the Raiders, meeting with the SA group seems to be a case of keeping all options open. There’s no real reason for them to close the door on a possible move to the Lone Star State, even though it may not be the option that wins out in the long run.
From the SA side of things, you can’t blame them for trying to land an NFL team. Why wouldn’t they want the Raiders? Why wouldn’t they want to jump aboard the gravy train that is the NFL?
