On this coming Sunday night, the NFL’s oldest rivalry will add another chapter to its storied history. The Chicago Bears will travel to Lambeau Field to square off against the Green Bay Packers in hopes of turning their season around. The Week 4 matchup between these two teams clearly showed that the Packers had the upper hand. Let’s see if things will be different for Week 10.

Green Bay is giving up an average of 225.8 passing yards per game, which is ninth-best in the league. Bears quarterback Jay Cutler’s history against the Packers is nothing short of horrible. In 11 career games facing Green Bay (10 of which were losses), Cutler has a QB rating of 67.0, and has thrown 20 interceptions.

Green Bay is dead last in the NFL in stopping the run, surrendering a monster average of 153.5 yards per game. If Chicago stays committed their running game, Bears running back Matt Forte should have a big game and could be the key factor in a potential upset over the Packers.

Unlike Cutler, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers always has big-time games in this rivalry. In Week 4, Rodgers exploited Chicago’s safeties, and as a result, both Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb had over 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns apiece. If the Bears’ pass rush is still stuck in neutral, then Green Bay’s aerial attack will flourish again.

The Bears’ defense is surrendering an average of 110.1 yards on the ground, while the Packers are averaging 97.5 rushing yards. Neither side in this battle is displaying numbers that will catch anyone’s eye. This part of the game may not be much of a factor.

Chicago’s return game isn’t nearly as explosive as it was in the past with Devin Hester. As for the Packers, they have the most dynamic player on special teams that either team will display on the field Sunday night in Cobb.

Until the Bears’ coaching staff proves to everyone that they can get this team clicking on all cylinders and can finally make this rivalry more relevant, Green Bay’s coaching staff will always have the upper hand.

Unfortunately, the Bears will have to rely too much on one thing (the running game) in order to win this game. Even if Forte runs wild on the Packers, Rodgers and Green Bay’s offense will be too much for Chicago’s inconsistent defense.

Overall Advantage: Packers
