The Cincinnati Bengals had a rough go of it in Week 10. Andy Dalton had as bad of a game as a QB can have, the running game struggled and because of those two factors, A.J. Green was largely irrelevant. However, he is likely to play a major role for the team in Week 11 against the New Orleans Saints.
After a matchup that saw him matched up against Joe Haden last week, Green will almost certainly have an easier time against the Saints’ secondary. They lack a shutdown cornerback like Haden. In fact, the Saints are currently ranked 27th in the entire NFL in defending opposing wide receivers. They have allowed an average 0f 259 yards per game through the air so far this season. They have also allowed a whopping 13 touchdowns on the year through the air.
Given the fact that Giovani Bernard is expected to be unavailable once again with a hip injury, the Bengals may have to lean heavily on Dalton’s arm again this week. That means a heavy emphasis on Green in the passing game as well. Mohamed Sanu has proven to be a dependable option, but he isn’t nearly the game-changing weapon that Green is when healthy.
Green may have disappointed in Week 10, but Dalton should have a much easier time attacking the Saints’ secondary this week. Add to that the fact that Green is slowly getting healthier and that Saints CB Keenan Lewis is hurt and Green could potentially have a huge game this week.
