As the Oakland Raiders are approaching their matchup against their AFC West rival San Diego Chargers, their upcoming games get even tougher. The Raiders are currently sitting last in the power rankings and with the easy part out of their schedule, it looks like they’re not losing their spot.
The next six games on the Raiders’ schedule include matchups against the Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers, Buffalo Bills, St.Louis Rams and Kansas City Chiefs (twice). All of those teams, excluding the Rams, are all above the .500 mark and it doesn’t look like they’ll give the Raiders an easy time. The Raiders should have at least salvaged victories against the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins and even the New England Patriots.
The way this team is going, it looks like the idea of them obtaining the imperfect season looks more realistic. The only exception of the Raiders getting a win in their next upcoming games is against the Rams just because they’re having a troubling season as well, but knowing the Raiders — they’re going to struggle.
You can even give them a chance against the mighty Peyton Manning and the Broncos, even though the Broncos tore apart the Raider defense last time out with a 41-17 win. If the Broncos have secured a playoff spot before the last game of the season with the Raiders, then you could see an upset. I highly doubt Broncos HC John Fox would put his first squad in jeopardy against the struggling Raiders, which at this point, a practice squad could beat them.
The team confidence right now in Oakland is nowhere to be found and when you add the way this squad has been playing, then it could only equal to losses. With the exception of the Rams, the Raider’s future opponents are all in the running for the playoffs and won’t feel bad for the Raiders.
It’s tough to make these predictions, but with this tough schedule up ahead, it looks more likely like the road will get rougher. Maybe the Raiders could deliver one or even two wins by the end of the season, but the way things are going — I wouldn’t hold my breath.
