The New York Giants are going through another rough season this year and their 3-6 record going into today's contest against the San Francisco 49ers is clear proof of that. Unfortunately, their record is now 3-7 after a disappointing, yet close, 16-10 loss. There are many conclusions to make about the G-Men from this game, but the following are the top five takeaways.

Although the Giants were able to limit the offensive damage produced by the 49ers, there was one play in particular that served as the nail in their coffin today. It was a 48-yard TD pass to Michael Crabtree where he turned a short pass into a massive gain and score. The chances of this happening if elite CB Prince Amukamara was playing are extremely low. He is sorely missed by the Giants.

While he may not be an elite talent, the improving play of Preston Parker as a slot receiver was helping to keep things a bit more open for Odell Beckham, Jr. and Rueben Randle. Once Parker was knocked out of the game, the elite secondary of the 49ers was able to tighten their coverage and create harder passing lanes for Eli Manning to contend with. Hopefully, Parker will return soon.

The Giants were sorely missing the presence of RB Rashad Jennings over the past few weeks. While backup Andre Williams has a lot of potential, he simply isn't where he needs to be in order to be an effective NFL RB. Jennings made his return today, and it was an unsuccessful one as he averaged only 3.3 yards per carry. This is what happens when you face a top 10 run defense in your first game back.

2. Eli Manning Took a Huge Step Back With 5 INTs

Coming into today's contest, Eli Manning only had six INTs on the season which is a vast improvement from how he normally plays. Unfortunately, against a powerful and stingy 49ers pass defense, Manning nearly doubled his yearly total by throwing five INTs. He was constantly rushed which led him to make some costly mistakes. It looks like he's taken a step back from his 2014 progression.

When Victor Cruz went down for the season, it became clear that the top receiving option for the Giants would be their electric rookie WR Odell Beckham, Jr. He was drafted with the thought that he was an elite talent, and he continues to prove it every week. His final line of six catches for 93 yards against a 49ers secondary that constantly doubled-teamed him is extremely impressive for a rookie.
