The Washington Redskins know at this point that their playoff hopes have dwindled into nothingness. What they have left now is determining whether Robert Griffin III should be the quarterback at this team’s helm going forward.
That is quite unclear at the moment. He appeared to throw his teammates under the bus with recent post-game comments, but he denied that after the fact. It must be acknowledged though that this is not the first instance of reports surfacing about RGIII losing the Redskins’ locker room. His head coach even called out the quarterback for worrying about his teammates so much, telling NFL.com that Griffin “needs to worry about himself No. 1 and not everybody else.”
RGIII may be 24, but he is playing a lot more like a rookie. We will have to see how the team responds to his comments, and if its play on Sunday was any indication, Griffin may be on the tail end of his time in Washington. It seems bizarre to even consider that possibility now, but Robert has reached a Derrick Rose-like level of doubt within the District. It appears like the Redskins are stuck with their quarterback situation until a major move is made.
This, of course, was not a scenario that anyone could have envisioned even last year, but in the football world, things change so quickly.
