Top 5 Landing Spots For Ben Tate

5 Teams That Should Look To Sign RB Ben Tate

In somewhat surprising news from the NFL, the Cleveland Browns have waived running back Ben Tate. With the emergence of Terrance West and Isaiah Crowell, Tate apparently became expendable.

But he won't be unemployed for long. Here are five teams that could look to claim him off waivers:

Unless Adrian Peterson gets his suspension overturned, the Vikings will remain thin at RB (in terms of talent). Rookie Jerick McKinnon has shown signs of potentially becoming a future star, but he has a long way to go. Matt Asiata is just nothing to write home about.

The Vikings could use Ben Tate, but they don't really need him.

Buffalo has a banged up backfield, and isn't quite out of the AFC playoff picture just yet. It wouldn't be the craziest thing to see the Bills bring Tate on board for the rest of the season in an attempt to go all-in for the postseason.

The Dolphins are alive and well in the race for an AFC Wild Card spot. With Knowshon Moreno lost for the year and Lamar Miller not exactly crushing it, Tate could prove to be a solid addition to the Miami backfield down the stretch.

2. Denver Broncos

The Broncos are dealing with a slew of injuries at the RB position. With Ronnie Hillman and Montee Ball both on the shelf, C.J. Anderson is left to carry the load. While Denver wouldn't need Tate long-term, he could prove to be a solid short-term option for a team in desperate need of RB depth.

On the surface, Indianapolis makes the most sense for Tate. With Ahmad Bradshaw now lost for the season, the Colts need to find a way to replace his production. While Tate isn't the receiving threat out of the backfield that Bradshaw is, he's also not your average recently-released running back. Tate would be much more than a serviceable replacement for Bradshaw, and Indy should definitely attempt to claim him.
