After smelling a playoff berth with a record of 5-3, the Buffalo Bills had high hopes in finishing off the 2014 NFL season. However, after two consecutive losses, they are now hanging on by a thread and face a must-win game during Week 12 against the New York Jets.

The Jets head into Sunday’s contest in Buffalo coming off their bye week, but during Week 10, they finally won their second game of the season and first since Week 1. Quarterback Michael Vick will get his third start of the year, which is warranted, as he has played well over his previous two starts. He has thrown three total touchdowns, but arguably more importantly he’s thrown zero interceptions.

While Vick has played well, the Jets will need help from their supporting cast and will need to get receiver Percy Harvin involved. New York has made it a point to get him the ball, but Harvin is still searching for his first touchdown as a Jet. Look for the team to find unique ways in getting Harvin touches, which in turn should open up the rest of the offense.

It is not easy being a Bills fan. They currently have the longest playoff-drought in the league (1999), and that trend will seemingly continue into 2015. Buffalo had chances to come out victorious the past two weeks but failed to do so, and now they essentially have their season in the balance for Week 12.

Quarterback Kyle Orton has filled in nicely, throwing 10 touchdowns and only three interceptions with a solid 93.5 quarterback rating. However, the Bills have continued to find ways to lose over the past two weeks, just as they have done over the past number of seasons.

The Bills may need to rely on their running game this weekend, with seven feet of snow expected by game time. Look for Fred Jackson and Bryce Brown to be heavily involved, with Anthony Dixon being mixed in as well. If they are able to get the ground game going, it should open up the play-action pass downfield to Sammy Watkins.

Final Prediction: Buffalo is continuing to trend downward, and with this game having the makings of an ugly one, I love the Jets’ chances. New York takes this one, 17-13.
