Adrian Peterson Deserves Second Chance With New Team In 2015
It seems like it’s been years since Adrian Peterson suited up for the Minnesota Vikings.
After getting suspended for the rest of the 2014 season, the Vikings will turn to the backfield duo of rookie Jerick McKinnon and veteran Matt Asiata. In Peterson’s absence, McKinnon has shined. The third-round pick out of Georgia Southern has ran the ball 98 times for 484 rushing yards, which is good enough for an average of 4.9 yards per carry. That being said, the Vikings might just be better off by biting the bullet and cutting the all-world running back.
If Peterson gets cut, he should definitely get a second chance in the NFL. Although the league has cut down and become stricter over the course of the past year, commissioner Roger Goodell has to reinstate Peterson. Whether Peterson was right or wrong in his treatment of his child, it shouldn’t matter because the NFL has had a history of giving second chances. A change of scenery would be ideal for Peterson, as his issues would stay with him if he stayed in Minnesota.
If he gets reinstated for the 2015 season, Peterson should get an opportunity to play for another team. One team that comes to mind when thinking of Peterson’s future playing prospects is the Dallas Cowboys. Owner Jerry Jones has a history of making a splash, and Peterson has already discussed with Jones about coming home at the end of his career and playing for his favorite team growing up.
Peterson has a few good years left in him, and the Cowboys would be willing to bring him in despite all of the publicity following him. Peterson made a mistake, but he should definitely the chance to play for another team in 2015, and that team could be the Cowboys.
