There’s been a lot of talking surrounding Marshawn Lynch and his place on the Seattle Seahwaks‘ roster after this season. Multiple reports have said that the Seahawks may look elsewhere at the running back position after the 2014 season is over, and some contrasting reports say that Lynch is in the team’s future plans. If the Seahawks did decide to move on from Lynch, one name that would make a lot of sense would be Adrian Peterson.
There is a lot of baggage that comes with Peterson, but there is no denying that he is one of the best running backs in the NFL. Before the season began, Peterson looked as if he was running his way into the Hall of Fame. The Minnesota Vikings‘ back has had more than 10 touchdowns and 1,000 rushing yards in all but one season — he fell short in 2011 with 970 rushing yards because he only played 12 games. At the ripe age of 29 years old, Peterson is in the prime of his career and despite missing time this season, he still has a lot left in the tank.
If Peterson did end up with the Seahawks, he would be a great fit. The Seahawks love to run their offense through the ground, and the Vikings’ system is very similar. It’s hard to imagine every single NFL team passing up on Peterson due to his child abuse allegations. He is too talented for a team not to take a chance on him, and I’m sure he would love to get back on the field and put all of the off-field drama behind him.
If Lynch does leave after the season and Peterson is sitting there without a team, I don’t see why the Seahawks wouldn’t take a chance on him.
