Mark Sanchez and the Philadelphia Eagles took sole possession of the NFC East by defeating the Dallas Cowboys. Sanchez has returned to top form and is thriving in Chip Kelly’s offense.
The last time Sanchez played football on Thanksgiving Day, he was the victim of the infamous “butt fumble.” He avenged himself with a big win over a stingy Dallas defense, putting up 217 yards, a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown. Sanchez looked completely comfortable in the pocket and was able to spread the ball around. He also has a ton of help from LeSean McCoy, who ran all over the Cowboys.
Kelly managed to wash all the stink off of Sanchez and turn him into a great quarterback. Nick Foles is supposedly supposed to be healthy enough to play just in time for the playoffs. Sanchez has done more than enough to prove his worth to Kelly’s squad. Foles will most likely ride the bench for the playoffs if Sanchez’s success continues. It is not wise to bench the hot-handed quarterback in a situation like this one.
If Sanchez takes the Eagles deep into the playoffs or possibly to the Super Bowl, Eagles fans better get used to seeing him around. Sanchez could become the permanent starting quarterback in Philadelphia. Though it is still to early to tell, he seems to be running Kelly’s offense more efficiently than Foles was. Some may argue that Sanchez is the product of Kelly’s offense and has no real talent if put into a different system. That statement seems to be proven wrong every week.
Foles could get Philadelphia decent draft picks from a quarterback-needy team. It wouldn’t as crazy as it seems. The backup takes the spotlight more than often than one would think in the NFL. A perfect example would be the Colin Kaepernick and Alex Smith situation. Smith got hurt and Kaepernick came in, took the spotlight, and earned himself a starting job.
Sanchez is for real, and he is here to take over Philly.
