Tennessee Titans Should Trade Derrick Morgan This Offseason

Sitting at 2-11 heading into Week 15, the Tennessee Titans have been among the worst, if not the worst team in the entire NFL. It’s becoming clearer and clearer with each passing week that this team needs major upgrades on both sides of the ball. Major changes are certainly coming to Tennessee this offseason, and the rebuilding process will start by getting rid of underachieving draft picks. Linebacker Derrick Morgan was drafted with the No. 16 overall pick back in 2010, but he has never lived up to that billing. With a rebuilding phase on the way, the Titans should try to trade Morgan in the offseason.

Just because he hasn’t played well in Tennessee, doesn’t mean that other teams don’t covet Morgan. He’s never been used properly with the Titans, often being forced to play out of position. If the Titans can find a team in need of a 4-3 defensive end, they might be able to get something decent in exchange for Morgan.

That’s not to say the Titans are going to swap the underachieving Morgan for a high draft pick, but if they can get a fifth or sixth rounder and perhaps a player better suited to their system in exchange for Morgan, it would be an excellent way to kickoff the rebuilding process.

This entire season has been a mess for the Titans, and the team needs to start making better decisions in the offseason if they want to right the ship. With Morgan not producing like a first-rounder should, then there’s no reason why they shouldn’t try to trade him during the offseason.
