Who knows how the San Francisco 49ers will handle being eliminated from the playoffs with two weeks to go in the regular season, but I am sure the team will still play tough. It will need to if it plans on knocking off the San Diego Chargers in Week 16.
San Diego hasn’t been eliminated from the playoffs yet, but it really needs to win its last two games. The Chargers will play the Kansas City Chiefs in the final week of the regular season. Although San Diego has played two Super Bowl contenders in the past two weeks (Denver Broncos, New England Patriots), it has only managed to score a combined 24 points in those games.
The 49ers have now dropped three in a row. With that said, two of those losses came against the Seattle Seahawks, who are clearly back to being a really good football team.
It’s a shame that San Fran isn’t going to be in the playoffs this year, but it can still affect the picture by beating San Diego and the Arizona Cardinals in its final games. Arizona is already a lock to make the postseason, but which seed it will get remains to be seen.
As much as I want to say the Chargers will make the playoffs this year, I just don’t see them getting it done in San Francisco this weekend.
