Week 16 Matchup: Atlanta Falcons (5-9) vs. New Orleans Saints (6-8)
TV Schedule: Sunday, Dec. 21, 1:00 p.m. ET, FOX
Stadium: Mercedes-Benz Superdome
Line: New Orleans (-6.5)
And just like that, the New Orleans Saints are back on top. That’s right, if the season ended today, the Saints would be in the playoffs, while the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers would be on the outside looking in. Of course, that could all change after one game.
The Falcons enter this one needing a victory. They have dropped two straight, but none of that will matter if they can knock of New Orleans. Atlanta managed to win the first meeting of the season, which actually came in Week 1. In that game, the Falcons got the victory in overtime. With so much on the line in this contest, we very well could see another overtime. Although this Week 16 matchup is huge, the Week 17 matchup against the Panthers could be just as big.
New Orleans got another road victory in Week 15. The Saints are in the driver’s seat, so they just need to continue to win. If they do knock off Atlanta this week, they will more than likely be in the playoffs. I suppose they still have one more matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but the Bucs only have two wins in 2014.
Although the Saints have surprisingly struggled at home this year, Drew Brees and the rest of the team will show their dominance at home (once again) in this must-win game.
