Week 17 Matchup: Philadelphia Eagles (9-6) vs. New York Giants (6-9)
TV Schedule: Sunday, Dec. 28, 1:00 p.m. ET, FOX
Stadium: MetLife Stadium
Line: New York (-3)
It’s a shame that the Philadelphia Eagles aren’t going to be in this year’s playoffs. The same thing can be said about the New York Giants, but it is the Eagles who were in the hunt the entire season.
With nothing left to play for — other than pride — who knows how the Eagles will come out in this one. Regardless, the season quickly went south for this team in the last couple of weeks.
It doesn’t really help Philadelphia’s cause that the Giants have been on a roll as of late. Winners of three games in a row, New York will look to close out the season on a four-game winning streak. At one point, the Giants lost seven contests in a row, so this type of turnaround does help to dull some of the pain.
Philadelphia has had the better year — that is pretty clear when looking at the records — but things haven’t really gone according to plan at the quarterback position (unless if you are happy with the way Mark Sanchez has been playing), and this team will have to travel on the road for the final game of 2014.
The Eagles more than likely won’t just fall over and die in this one, but they will not come away with the victory.
PREDICTION: Eagles 24, Giants 28
