As Week 17 of the NFL season approaches, the Pittsburgh Steelers are looking red-hot and ready to make another leap in the playoff race.
Winning three of their last four, Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers have been dominant. The offense has put up 4,508 passing yards, good for second in the league behind Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts. Roethlisberger only needs to pass for 365 yards to become a part of the 5,000-yard passing club in a single season. Only five other quarterbacks have reached this milestone: Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Dan Marino and Matthew Stafford.
On the ground, running back Le’Veon Bell (1,341 yards and eight touchdowns) has been the workhorse for an effective backfield that is 13th overall behind some respectable running games.
Bell’s rushing yards currently rank second overall in the league, and he is seventh in rushing touchdowns. Antonio Brown has been lights-out on the receiving end, leading all receivers with 1,570 yards along with 12 receiving touchdowns on the year. Roethlisberger has shared the wealth through the air with his other big-name targets like Bell and Heath Miller, who has been a consistent threat at the tight end position.
These guys have all had a tremendous year and should be the headlines when the playoffs arrive. The Steelers’ offense should improve the team’s playoff chances. If the Steelers can beat the Cincinnati Bengals, not only would they become the AFC North division champions, but they would also sew up a first-round home playoff game.
The Steelers are here and ready to become top contenders in the playoff picture.
