It looks like the Dallas Cowboys won’t have an easy time disposing of the Detroit Lions after all.

After receiving a one-game suspension for stomping on Aaron Rodgers‘ injured leg on Sunday, Ndamukong Suh has won his appeal, overturning the suspension and landing himself a $70,000 fine instead. It’s great news for the Lions, who stood little chance of slowing down DeMarco Murray and the Cowboys’ running game without Suh in this weekend’s Wild Card showdown.

Suh was the anchor for the Lions’ league-leading run defense, but without him the mix, Detroit was sure to struggle to slow down Murray, the NFL‘s top rusher for 2014. With him back in the fold, though, the Lions should be in a much better position to keep Murray relatively contained.

This will also force Tony Romo to be more of a factor in the Cowboys’ game plan. The Detroit secondary, however, has proven to be beatable this season. And considering the way Dez Bryant has been playing as of late, Romo shouldn’t have too much trouble putting up big numbers on the Lions’ pass defense. That is, if he can avoid the January curse that has plagued him in years passed.

Regardless of what happens on game day, the fact that Suh’s suspension was overturned definitely has the Lions counting their lucky stars. It’s unlikely they can topple the red-hot Cowboys regardless, but at least they’ve have the dirtiest player in the NFL clogging up the middle — and stepping on unsuspecting opponents.
