2015 NFL Draft: Too-Early Green Bay Packers 7-Round Mock

It's the time of the year when mock drafts are starting to realize, and my latest is a seven-round mock for the Green Bay Packers. Currently, the Packers are on their bye week, but it's never too early to start looking at mock drafts for the upcoming draft season.

1st Round: Eddie Goldman

With B.J. Raji out for the year and not likely returning in 2015, the Packers have relied on veteran Letroy Guion to man the position. Although Guion has played well, the Packers should get younger at this position of need because the defensive tackle position is so important in a 3-4 defensive scheme. Drafting a quick-twitch defensive tackle like Eddie Goldman would be ideal.

Over the past few years, the Packers have relied on the likes of Brad Jones and Jamari Lattimore to man the linebacker position next to A.J. Hawk. It's safe to say that the Packers need to bring in a linebacker who can simply tackle at will. That guy is Denzel Perryman of Miami. He struggles tremendously against the pass, but Perryman is a sure tackler and that will be very handy for the Packers.

If Tramon Williams does not re-sign with the Packers over the offseason, Green Bay will need to draft a cornerback early in this year's draft. Cornerback prospects are becoming bigger and stronger, and that's what Eric Rowe out of Utah is. At 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, Rowe is a tall cornerback and even if Williams does come back, you can really never have enough cornerbacks. Rowe fits the bill at a position of need.

4th Round: Austin Hill

With Randall Cobb's contract becoming an issue over the offseason, the Packers may have to overpay to keep him, but there is a chance that another team could pay Cobb top-dollar for him to be their No. 1. If that happens, Davante Adams will emerge to a starter opposite of Jordy Nelson, but it leaves a hole behind both of them. Bringing in a player like Austin Hill to develop would be a smart idea for the Packers.

Another player who could leave over the offseason because of his contact is Bryan Bulaga. If he leaves over the offseason, the Packers would need a new starting right tackle and even though Don Barclay isn't bad, the fact of the matter is that drafting an offensive linemen would be smart. The Packers wouldn't have to go far for a stud offensive tackle. Rob Havenstein of Wisconsin is a beast and he would fit perfectly in Green Bay.

Swagger and hard-hitting are two traits you will get out of Justin Cox. Bringing in a safety would be smart idea because the Packers struggled in 2014 without Charles Woodson. Cox has a history of off-field concerns, but he is a playmaker and he would be an intimidating presence in the defensive backfield for years.

I have the Packers drafting a defensive tackle in the first round, and I have them drafting another one in the seventh round simply for depth purposes. Darius Kilgo has been perhaps Maryland's most productive defensive linemen of all time. He is flying under the radar, but if this pick were to happen, the Packers would be getting an underrated stud late in the draft.
