5 Bears Who May Be Gone in 2015

The Chicago Bears’ disastrous 2014 season has resulted in a major facelift for the organization. We already know that the positions of general manager, head coach and offensive coordinator will no longer have familiar faces in 2015, and the same can be said regarding some of their personnel. Here are five Bears veterans who could find themselves on a different NFL team next season.

Due to the seven-year, $ 126.7 million contract that Jay Cutler signed during the 2014 offseason, many say that it’s highly unlikely that the Bears’ front office will cut ties with the controversial quarterback. However, considering that no one knows for sure who will be the next general manager and head coach for Chicago, there still is a slim chance that Cutler won’t be in the Windy City in 2015.

4. Chris Conte

Chris Conte was under major scrutiny due to his play at safety in 2013. With 2014 being his last season under his rookie contract, Conte was under the gun to prove he was worth keeping. Unfortunately, his inability to stay healthy in 2014 could count against him. Conte missed four games, and injuries to his back, eye, both shoulders and a concussion played a part in him being unable to finish seven of the 12 games he played in.

Despite spending the majority of 2013 on injured reserve, D.J. Williams was re-signed for 2014 season. The 11-year veteran was once again placed on IR late in 2014. Williams’ age (32) definitely will work against him this offseason, especially with the likelihood of 23-year-old Jon Bostic manning the middle of the linebacking corps in 2015.

2. Charles Tillman

After tearing his right triceps in 2013, Charles Tillman was placed on IR for the second half of the season, but was fortunate enough to get re-signed by the Bears. Tearing that same triceps in Week 2 of 2014, and being placed on IR again, just might have ended Tillman’s 12-year tenure in Chicago.

Just like Tillman, Lance Briggs has been plagued by injury over the past two seasons. A fractured shoulder forced the seven-time Pro Bowler to miss seven games in 2013, and a groin injury forced the Bears to place Briggs on IR in 2014. The 34-year-old Briggs admitted himself that he may not be back with Chicago in 2015, and I think it’s safe to say that he’s right.
