The playoffs are all about the star players excelling at a high level and leading their teams to glory. However, it is the lesser-known players who can actually make a big difference. Think James Starks in the 2010 playoffs and Howard Green in Super Bowl XLV. The five on this list are little-known players who could come up big for the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs. Packers fans may know who they are, but they’re still not known nationally.

First-round draft pick Datone Jones has not done a lot in his two seasons in the NFL. His tackle numbers increased in 2014, but his sack numbers decreased by two. Still, Jones has the potential to be a wrecking ball along the defensive line. Even though he only appeared in 28.7 percent of defensive snaps during the regular season, those numbers could increase in the playoffs. Hopefully, he will find a way to get after Tony Romo in the divisional.

The Packers have to be thrilled with the way inside linebacker Sam Barrington has played as of late. In the last four games, all of which were critical to Green Bay’s road to the NFC North title, he recorded 28 tackles. A majority of those occurred in stopping the run, which is what the Packers have consistently been missing from an inside linebacker. It could be Barrington who slows down DeMarco Murray and helps the team to victory.

Of the five players on this list, Davon House is the most experienced. Still, he’s still relatively unknown outside of the state of Wisconsin. Every time he was on the field in 2014, he was defending passes at an outstanding level. In fact, it was he who began to shut down Atlanta’s Julio Jones after no one else could. It was not long ago Tramon Williams made a name for himself in the playoffs. House could be the next cornerback to do so.

2. Richard Rodgers, TE

A career-high five receptions in a must-win game could be the preview of what is to come for rookie tight end Richard Rodgers in the playoffs. Aaron Rodgers will need a security blanket, especially if his mobility will be less than stellar, which is where Rodgers could come in. Don’t be surprised if Rodgers has a big game, especially with the dismal Dallas secondary looking to keep an eye on other playmakers.

Even though Davante Adams has had mostly a quiet rookie season, there’s no denying he came up big in specific instances. Look no further than his career performance against the New England Patriots in Week 13 as evidence of that. The Patriots tried to slow down the Packers’ offense by taking away Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb. Adams made them pay by hauling in six receptions for 121 yards. Adams’ number will be called on again in the playoffs.
