Four straight first-round playoff losses have the Cincinnati Bengals in a strange place. They clearly have talent, but it hasn't been enough when the games matter the most. They can either clean house and start from scratch or try and add a few pieces to what they already have. I think the latter method is the best way to go, and here are five players that they should sign in order to break through next season.

Adrian Clayborn has a lot of the physical tools needed to be a good pass rusher. The problem is he has spent most of his career on the injury list. He suffered a season-ending injury in Week 1 this season, which will make him a more affordable signing. There isn't much of a risk with bringing Clayborn in, and if he stays healthy it could be a great signing.

You need to have a lot of offensive weapons if Andy Dalton is going to be your quarterback. Wes Welker needs a change of scenery after this last season in Denver. He would be a great fit working between A.J. Green and Mohamed Sanu, and I think Welker still has a few productive seasons left in him in the right place.

Staying with the theme of adding weapons, the Bengals should look to add a tight end. Jermaine Gresham is a free agent and hasn't been that good for Cincinnati. Tyler Eifert will be back, but he is often injured. Charles Clay would be able to play alongside Eifert and would also be an upgrade over Gresham.

As a whole, the Bengals' offensive line had a good season. However, the right tackle position needs to be addressed. Marshall Newhouse wasn't very effective and is a free agent himself. Houston's Derek Newton had a very solid season and will be a valuable signing for any team. The Bengals could be one of the top offensive lines in the league with him.

Cincinnati only had 20 sacks on the season. J.J. Watt and Justin Houston each had more than that by themselves. The Bengals have to improve their defensive line in the offseason, and Jerry Hughes would be a great start. Hughes followed up his 10-sack season in 2013 with 9.5 more in 2014. However, there won't be a shortage of suitors for him, so the Bengals will have to go deep into the pocketbook.
