The Rex Ryan era has officially started in Buffalo. It’s questionable as to why he chose a position that’s similar to the one that he had with the New York Jets, but a fresh start could be what he needed. His top task is to revitalize the offense, and he can do just that once free agency hits on March 10.

Clayborn is a former first-round selection that hasn’t exactly panned out to expectations. When he’s on the field, he can defend the run and rush the passer, but being on the field has been a problem. This season he played in only one game (biceps injury) and in 2012 played in only three. There won’t be a big price tag to acquire Clayborn in March.

Buffalo needs more versatility at the tight end position. With both Scott Chandler and Gresham, not only could the two be great outlets for whoever is playing quarterback, but also be solid blockers in the running game. Gresham would be a solid one-year flyer in Greg Roman’s offense.

Cromartie has a history with Ryan, and a good history at that. In the four seasons he spent in Ryan’s defense, he recorded at least three interceptions each season. Cromartie playing on an already stout defense in a scheme he knows is a situation too good to pass up.

Fred Jackson isn’t getting younger and C.J. Spiller is an upcoming free agent. Ryan may be willing to split with Spiller and in the event of that happening, he may look to Ridley to fill the void. After tearing his ACL and MCL in Week 6 this season, Ridley may come at a cheap price with the ability to produce in Buffalo.

Sanchez and Ryan went to two consecutive AFC Championship games. Once the talent level dropped around Sanchez, so did his production and the scrutiny between the two rose. They've proven they can be a championship team together and the possibility of the two succeeding with Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods at receiver is great.
