Pitting two of the most passionate fan bases against each other should provide as much excitement in the stands and during tailgating as there is on the field. Which side will support their team harder and propel them to a win?

9. Devin McCourty vs Jermaine Kearse

Kearse propelled Seattle to the Super Bowl with his big catch in overtime. McCourty mans the deep middle for the Pats and will be the last line of defense to keep a similar play from happening in the big game. Keeping a lid on Kearse will be McCourty’s biggest job and will be paramount to a New England win.

8. Russell Wilson vs Rob Ninkovich

Ninkovich is the Patriots’ top pass rusher and will be tasked not only with getting after Wilson when he drops back to pass, but also keeping him from tucking the ball and running for big plays. It’s a major challenge that will test the discipline and athleticism of Ninkovich but it could be the key to a New England victory.

7. Luke Willson vs Brandon Browner

Willson has often been the spark to Seattle’s offense when it has needed it while Browner is used to shutting down opposing tight ends when New England plays in its nickel packages. If Browner takes away Willson as an option in the passing game, Seattle’s offense could struggle to get on track.

6. Darrelle Revis vs Doug Baldwin

Baldwin is Seattle’s leading receiver and the most consistent pass-catcher available to Russell Wilson which likely means he’ll draw the coverage of Revis for most of the game. The Seahawks will have to throw at some point, and getting Baldwin past Revis will hold the key to their success in this game.

5. Vince Wilfork vs Max Unger

Much of this game is going to be played in the trenches and the winner of the matchup between Wilfork and Unger will be a key to who wins this game. Seattle lives on the interior running game and if its center can’t contain the massive Wilfork, the Hawks’ offense will get blown off track.

4. Marshawn Lynch vs Jamie Collins

Collins is as athletic a linebacker as there is in football and he often shadows the opposing running backs. Lynch is the heart of the Seattle offense and will be a handful for Collins to contain. If he doesn’t keep the lid on Beast Mode, New England will struggle to win this game.

3. Kam Chancellor vs Rob Gronkowski

Chancellor has become the enforcer of the Seattle secondary and will be tasked with laying the boom on Gronkowski to keep him out of the flow of the game. This could be the matchup of the night as both are elite, physical players who lay it all on the line for their teams.

2. Seattle D-Line vs New England O-Line

For New England to win, it has to protect Tom Brady. For Seattle to win, it has to put pressure on him. That makes this matchup between the Seattle d-line and the New England o-line all the more important for Super Bowl Sunday.

Brady is going to have to stretch the field at some point through the air and test the Legion of Boom. If they can shut down the aerial attack like they have so often in the past, Seattle will have an excellent opportunity to win this game.
