The New York Giants spent significantly more money during last offseason than they usually do during free agency. Still, they managed only a 6-10 record as they were plagued by injuries during the season. With some key players hitting the market, this could be a big year for the Giants to flip their roster. Here are five predictions for the Giants’ free agency.

Entering free agency, the Giants will only have an estimated $ 17 million in cap space, and they’ll likely want to free up some room. Two players to keep an eye out for are DE Mathias Kiwanuka, who is set to have a cap hit of $ 7.45 million, and LB Jon Beason, who’s right behind him with a hit of $ 7.37 million. Both are older players and ended the season on IR; chances are both won’t suit up for New York in 2015.

4. The Giants Re-sign a Few Role Players

Several players whom the Giants signed last year either turned out to be good pickups, or didn’t get a chance to prove their value due to injury. Someone like CB Walter Thurmond III signed a one-year, $ 3 million deal last year, but he came from the champion Seattle Seahawks. Now injured, he may return at a lower cost. FB Henry Hynoski is another player who’s hitting the market, but is someone the Giants love.

At least. The Giants’ line was a mess in 2014, and while they’re in a great position to draft a top tackle, they’ll likely bring in some security nonetheless. Lately, they’ve been signing budget veterans like JD Walton, David Baas and Adam Snyder, but none of them really panned out. Expect another veteran, but a younger player with some potential could be a nice target for New York.

2. Only One Between Antrel Rolle or Jason Pierre-Paul Returns

GM Jerry Reese won’t want to break the bank again this offseason, and both Rolle and JPP could cause him to do that. JPP is younger and more crucial to the Giants’ success, but Rolle is a savvy veteran and team captain. Both will be missed if they don’t return, but at this point it seems like a long-shot that they both play for Big Blue next season.

There are plenty of names out there from RB DeMarco Murray to G Mike Iupati to TE Jordan Cameron. And the Giants won’t sign any of them. Reese will probably try to lock up JPP, who would be their only "big-name" FA, and will use another strong draft to continue to build this team rather than through free agency.
