They always say you want to make sure you have the right people in the right place to make smart football decisions for your franchise. The New York Jets have already made a bunch of moves that are gaining much respect in the NFL community. Their new dynamic duo of head coach Todd Bowles and general manager Mike Maccagnan are top notch respected individuals who will no doubt put the Jets back in the right direction over time.
While many shouldn’t expect the Jets to turn things around overnight, they continue to add new hires into the organization who will pay off nicely in the long-term. It takes a full year or two before you build a playoff contending team, as you need the brightest people who are keen scouts of players to get the right pieces needed on the team immediately.
Whether it’s through free agency or the 2015 NFL Draft, the Jets will be in a prime position to finally bring in quality talent that can become difference makers down the road. They just hired a new director of player personnel in Brian Heimerdinger and hired Rex Hogan as their new senior director of college scouting.
These two key individuals will no doubt help Maccagnan infuse some talent all across a team that is in dire need of help at key positions. With pressing needs at cornerback, linebacker and at quarterback, the Jets are figured to be heavy hitters in free agency and do everything they possibly can to have a successful draft.
Overall, the Jets are looking more and more like an organization that is headed towards better days. Once they bring in the right players to execute and bring in a winning atmosphere, it’s only a matter of time before they are back in the spotlight in the NFL Playoffs.
