Eddie Goldman is an interesting prospect heading into next week’s NFL Draft Combine. In recent mock drafts, I’ve seen him go anywhere from No. 14 to No. 30. He was a key cog in the strong Florida State defense, and at 6-foot-3, 314 pounds, Goldman could become a rather disruptive force at the next level.

If you want watch what he his capable of doing to an offense, just watch the tape from the Louisville game earlier this year, and you will see how dominant he is on the defensive line.

Goldman’s versatility should prove beneficial in the NFL, as Goldman can play one technique, three technique and five technique. If you ask me though, he will fit in perfectly as a defensive tackle for a 4-3 defense, as well as a 3-4 defensive end.

Goldman’s strength and quickness are his most impressive attributes. If he stays low and maintains leverage, he can handle any offensive lineman that is put in front of him. It’s when he stands up that he gets lost and manhandled.

He is not going to blow you away with his pass-rushing abilities, but he should be able to hold his own at the line of scrimmage and become a good run-defender. He can become an anchor to a defensive line who also carries the ability to change the game.

Heading into next week’s combine, I would expect Goldman to put on a show. Coaches and scouts alike will be impressed with Goldman’s athleticism for a man his size. It’s truly not something you see every day. Goldman may end up being a steal for some team late in the first round.
